Outline of the 2006 Japan smoking rate survey

The survey was conducted in August 2006 using a stratified two-stage sampling, mailed to 32,000 adult men and women nationwide.  JT collected 18,595 (58.0 percent) valid responses of the total population surveyed.  The mail-in survey was introduced for the first time this year, while survey takers had re-collected the questionnaires until last year.
