JT to Launch Limited Edition Package Designs in Celebration
of the 30th Anniversary of Mild Seven

Five limited edition box products to be sold nationwide

Tokyo, October 9, 2007 --- Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT) (TSE: 2914) announced today the launch of five limited edition box products under its Mild Seven brand in mid-October, in celebration of its 30th anniversary. The specially packaged products are limited to 33.5 million packs and will be available only in the Japan market. JT has introduced the new products in response to requests from customers to provide more specialized packaging designs.

The limited edition products were developed to carry designs with motifs depicting images of water, the sky and the cosmos, representing a world of "blue," while maintaining their original "Blue Wind" symbol.

First introduced in 1977, Mild Seven today continues to dominate the Japan market, and has positioned itself as the second best-selling brand in the world. The limited edition introduction is just one of a number of initiatives commemorating the 30th anniversary of Mild Seven aimed at enhancing the brand's equity and supporting its continued success.
