CDP

We were selected by the international environmental disclosure platform CDP for inclusion in its 2025 “A List” for our outstanding initiatives and strategies addressing climate change and water security. This marks our eighth (seventh consecutive) selection for climate change and our fifth selection for water security.
In July 2025, we were also recognized as “Supplier Engagement Leader 2024” in CDP’s Supplier Engagement Assessment for the sixth consecutive year.

S&P / JPX Carbon Efficient Index

We have been selected as a member of S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index since its launch in 2018. The S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index (selected by GPIF as a core ESG benchmark) is designed to measure the performance of companies in the TOPIX (published by TSE), while overweighting or underweighting those companies that have lower or higher levels of carbon emissions per unit of revenue.

FTSE Blossom Japan Indices

We have been selected as a member of FTSE JPX Blossom Japan Index every year since its launch in 2017 by GPIF. We have also been selected as a member of FTSE JPX Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index Status in April 2022. The index is designed to support the transition to a low carbon economy by evaluating companies’ climate governance activities aligned with the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures’ recommendations and carbon emissions intensity to determine stock eligibility for index inclusion.

Morningstar Japan ex-REIT Gender Diversity Tilt Index

We have been selected as a member of Morningstar Japan ex-REIT Gender Diversity Tilt Index (one of the gender diversity indices of GPIF) in 2024 for the third consecutive year.

Science Based Targets

We have set a long-term GHG emissions reduction target in line with the Paris Agreement. GHG reduction targets for 2030 from our operations have been validated in 2022 by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as being in line with the 1.5℃ global warming scenario.
Additionally, we have newly obtained validation for our target to achieve Net-Zero GHG emissions across the entire value chain by 2050.

EY’s Global Equality Standard (GES) certificate

In 2021, JTI became one of the first multinational companies to receive EY’s new Global Equality Standard. This is one of the only global certificates that assesses companies on equal opportunities and equal pay in the workplace. In 2024, certification was reassessed and retained.

The Guardian’s Global Diversity List

LGBTIQ+ Employee Resource Group PRIDE; JTI was recognized for its contribution to driving LGBTIQ+ inclusion by The Guardian's Global Diversity List. The group was first listed in the GDL in 2020 and this is the third consecutive listing.

PRIDE Index

In the PRIDE Index, which recognizes the most LGBTQ+- friendly companies, our Japanese operations (JT) achieved Gold status, the highest ranking, in 2025 for the tenth consecutive year. Furthermore, this year, we received the Rainbow Certification for the first time. This certification recognizes companies that actively promote cross-sector collaboration, including with local governments and NPOs/NGOs.

Japan HR Challenge Awards

In 2024, JT received Innovation Award at Japan HR Challenge Awards, which recognizes companies actively implementing new outstanding initiatives in the field of HR. This award was given in recognition of JT's excellent ef-forts in fostering an inclusive culture that respects diversity and supports employ-ees from various backgrounds.

JT has long been certified as a childcare-supporting company by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.

March 2025

White 500

In 2025, JT has been recognized as a Certified Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Organization (“White 500”) for its excellent health-conscious management by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi since the launch of this recognition in 2017.

JT was recognized by the Japan Sports Agency as a “Sports Yell Company 2025” for its active efforts to promote sports and improve the health of its employees. This is the third consecutive year of recognition since 2023.
