Our initiatives
Employee Participation
We actively promote collaboration within and outside the organization to bring together diverse perspectives and insights, expanding possibilities for creating new value toward achieving the JT Group Purpose. As part of this, we actively encourage our employees to engage in social participation, where they gain an opportunity to experience social issues and work together with others to solve them. We do this by organizing programs and providing the necessary opportunities (information on programs and events aimed at solving social issues, volunteer leave, corporate matching, donations using cafeteria points, in-kind support for activities, etc.).
In 2025, 10,773 employees worldwide spent 36,083 hours of company time supporting community programs.
Case study
Employee participatory donations (TFT Program)
The TABLE FOR TWO (TFT) Program is a donation initiative organized TABLE FOR TWO International, a Japan-originated NPO established in October 2007 that aims to resolve the global food imbalance. One of the main donation methods involves offering meal options in company cafeterias at a price that includes a donation. For every TFT menu meal purchased by an employee, 20 yen, equivalent to one school meal in a developing country, is donated through TFT to support school meals in developing countries.
JT has participated in the TFT Program since 2010, donating an amount equivalent to one school meal for every TFT menu meal purchased by cafeteria users at JT's headquarters in Tokyo. Immediately after the spread of COVID-19, teleworking became the standard working style, resulting in a decline in cafeteria usage. In response, we launched a new initiative in 2020 called the Walking Challenge Program × TFT that allows us to continue the program while supporting employee health.
Walking Challenge Program × TFT is an initiative in which, during the company-wide Walking Challenge Program event held on the health portal site Pep Up, the company donates an amount equivalent to one school meal for every 8,000 steps achieved per day by JT Group employees. In 2025, a total of 7,115 employees nationwide participated in the program in May and October, and we were able to donate 2,262,360 yen to TFT.
In addition, since 2021, we have introduced a donation menu option within the cafeteria plan (a welfare benefit allowing employees to select and use welfare menu items with points), enabling more employees to donate to TFT.
Based on its 2025 support achievements (TFT Program in cafeterias, Walking Challenge Program, and point-based donations), JT has been certified as a Platinum Partner by TFT.
